Programs and Services

The Foundation seeks to foster a community response to HIV/AIDS based on scientific fact, informed medical and public health policies, and compassionate care. The Foundation provides community outreach services and HIV/STD prevention education, through schools, social service agencies, public health fairs and general communication to the community, as well as, HIV testing and client support services.

Our mission is to provide quality information and services to the community and individuals regarding the prevention of HIV transmission and to provide services and information to those persons affected by HIV disease. Our vision is to be a leader in this county in providing the necessary services to the community in the area of HIV/AIDS prevention, education and client support. Our values are compassion, empathy, respect, trust and resourcefulness.

Founded in 1984, one year after the first person was diagnosed with AIDS inside San Joaquin County, the Foundation emerged as a cooperative partnership of concerned doctors, nurses, social service and mental health providers, religious leaders, county officials and private citizens. The Foundation was incorporated in 1986 and now receives limited federal, state, county and private funding; yet must rely on the local community to maintain its vitality.
